Weekly Top 10 Songs

Weekly Top 10 Songs
September 18, 2017 Wyatt Lillard

So previously in the past (which is recently), I’ve posted charts for top 100 songs, etc, etc, etc. Starting with this post, i’ll be posting a weekly song chart (top 10 songs) and see our favourite singers battle it out for the top spot.  Drum roll!

1-Look What You Made Me Do – Taylor Swift

The song that caused much uproar, breaks the Youtube and Spotify record as well as sending conspiracy theorists into exciting adventures of symbols decoding. The song’s music video portray the much dissent Swift’s has for Kanye, Katy Perry, Calvin Harris, and few other artists that Swift had spats with. The song battled it out against Despacito, kicking the trending and viral song down one level, from top one to number two. I guess it is worth it when Swift gone Gaga, the song been at the top for a few weeks now.

2- Bodak Yellow (Money Moves) – Cardi B

The Bodak Yellow kicked Despacito further down the chart, leaving it at number three, while Bodak Yellow took the number two spot on the weekly chart. The song climbed its way through charts in mere 7 weeks and this is Cardi B first true hit song. The Bodak Yellow became Cardi B first successful single, and the first in a while since Meghan Trainor to climb the chart this rapid pace. Bodak Yellow is all about Cardi B’s star power, her life stories before her rise as a female rapper, and how money gets around.

3-Despacito – Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee ft Justin Bieber

The chart topper before the appearance of Look What You Made Do and Bodak Yellow, trending and viral all over Instagram and Youtube. Various versions of the song were cover by many talented young singers. Though the song caused quite a bit of stir in Malaysia when the lyrics are finally translated (lol).  Will Despacito able to climb its way up again or will it plunge even further the chart?

4-Ready For It – Taylor Swift

Another new ears catching track by Swift, and immediately climbed to the number 4 spot on the chart. This song is much speculated and debated by her fans because the song is as if implying that Swift’s in a new relationship or could be it that she telling stories of her failed past relationships? Whatever it is, the song’s up beat music certain catch the attention many.

5-1-800-273-8255 – Logic ft Alessia Cara & Khalid

This new track by Logic is about the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, assuring those feeling helpless and given up all hope that there are still people who care about their lives. This a very moving song and raising awareness within the society regarding the increase in suicide cases. The song calls people to prevent suicide from happening, or support those who in need of help, give them the luxury of assurance that everything will be fine. The meaning song jumped it way up through the chart from the number nine spot to number five.

6-Wild Thoughts – DJ Khaled ft Rihanna & Bryson Tiller

The steamiest and sexually charged song really make both guys and girls sweating like crazy. The song is all about having dirty and sexy thoughts about your date, the thought of having a very wild (you know what) with date in the heat of summer night. Sexy and steamy it maybe, but those two elements can only get so far on their. Wild thoughts was dethroned from the number 4 spot by Logic’s 1-800-273-8255.

7-Attention – Charlie Puth

Our cute, boyish singer returned with his new single “Attention” making people speculate if the song is about his past relationship with Bella Thorne. Though, Charlie Puth made it clear that he wrote the song because he saw some guys on Instagram saying something and be like “i’m guy, so i’m strong and i’ll move” but he had another interpretation for that; “you just got played, the girl just wanted your attention.” And this is the song came to be. It seems Attention do not get enough attention from listeners, it fell down from 5 and currently at the number 7 spot. Will it get enough attention to back or move through the ranks?

8-Believer – Imagine Dragons

The Dragons released something new and deeply meaningful for their fans; Believer. Believer has this deep and very personal message in it, you can hear it just from the vocalization. The song is about the confession of a person who had gone through pain and find life’s meaning from it, learnt important things from it. It fell down from number six to the number eight.

9-Unforgettable – French Montana ft Swae Lee

Unforgettable tells the story of Montana’s early days in the States, the hardships him and his family went through, how his mother worked herself to the bone just to make their family are fed and have a roof over their head, and the transition they went through. Montana’s Unforgettable dropped from the lucky number seven spot and spiraled down to number nine.

10-There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back – Shawn Mendes

At the number 10 spot occupied by one of teenage girls dream guy, Shawn Mendes.  The song is about how Mendes able to feel good and free to be himself even though he’s involved in a relationship. The girl, which he madly in love with, is not a real. She is just a fictional character from a movie script that Mendes had read. Mendes mentioned that he might be starring in the movie of the said script. It seems Mendes is still holding back, because he dropped from the number eight spot to the ten.
